Program Description
If you’re already a university or college grad, and you have an aptitude for maps and technology, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technology program is for you. It is a diploma-of-advanced-studies program which builds on uniquely related skills. The focus of this intensive GIS program is to train you in the use of sophisticated technology tools for the collection, storage, manipulation, analysis, interpretation, and communication of geospatial information.
You are trained on cutting-edge GIS software, as well as on methods and data used by industry. Team projects provide opportunities for you to apply and demonstrate the technology tools in a real project setting. The projects are structured around current industry initiatives in three key disciplines - GIS analysis, computer mapping and applied programming. The projects help you to further develop problem-solving techniques and work flow strategies required by a wide range of GIS industries.

Career Possibilities
Graduates of the GIS Technology program are employed in a variety of positions, including spatial analysis technologists, mapping technologists, GPS technologists, geo-processors, database technologists, and other related occupations. Graduates find employment with engineering consulting offices and architectural firms; in the civil inspection field; with companies employing quantity surveyors; and with municipal, provincial and federal government departments and services.
