Program Description

If you’ve got Intel® inside, check out our Electronics Engineering Technology: Computer Systems (Co-op) program. Get into electrical, electronic and digital circuits and devices, printed circuit board rework and repair, local and wide area networks, programming, fibre optics and microprocessors. When all is said and done, you’ll be ready to design, build, test, document and maintain electronic computer networking systems. In your first year, you’ll learn all the basics. In your second year you’ll take on the nitty-gritty stuff that makes computer systems what they are, including local and wide area networks, network security, and microprocessors. You’ll also take on a major project, and when available, you can participate in co-op placements where you’ll be paid for your efforts.

Specific Considerations

Local campuses can provide information on courses that provide the prerequisites for technology programs at New Brunswick Community College Many universities give credits for courses completed in this program; however, assessment is normally completed on an individual basis. NOTE: Due to the nature of the industry, individuals with colour blindness should discuss this condition with their physician before pursuing a career in Computer Systems Technology. Though this is offered as a co-op program, there are limited seats available with this option. Co-op seats will be determined at the beginning of second year. The co-op option is only available at NBCC Saint John Campus.
