Program Description

Blending strategic planning with creative communications, our Business Administration: Marketing program trains your mind to think from a consumer’s point of view, and then get the right message out. The program provides skills training in market research, consumer behaviour, advertising, small business management, retail, professional sales and computer marketing applications. Along with a work-practicum, you’ll acquire the critical marketing skills necessary to survive and thrive in today’s exciting and challenging marketplace. The Marketing program will teach you how to create superior advertising strategies, produce award-winning advertisements and develop competitive strategies.

Career Possibilities

Graduates of the Business Administration: Marketing program gain employment in the areas of marketing, advertising, sales and business management including retail, financial institutions such as banks, trust companies and financial companies, municipal, provincial and federal government departments, marketing agencies, insurance companies and transportation companies. Graduates are frequently hired and placed in supervisory and management trainee programs. This presents the opportunity for career advancement for those displaying initiative and an industrious attitude. Students may also use this diploma to gain admission to the third year of bachelor degree programs at several universities.

Specific Considerations

Graduates of the Business Administration: Marketing program may be eligible for advanced credit through the Canadian Professional Sales Association, Institute of Canadian Bankers and the Canadian Retail Institute. Graduates of the two-year Business Administration program who have achieved a minimum of a 70% average each program year may be able to transfer into the third year of a four-year degree program at Cape Breton University (CBU), Crandall University (formerly ABU) or the University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ). NBCC is committed to furthering our university relationships; therefore, other university agreements may be available. This is a L.I.V.E. program. NBCC L.I.V.E. students have a world of knowledge at their fingertips via the NBCC wireless network. Classes that use the L.I.V.E. program are different from traditional classes because students may find themselves completing class assignments online or maintaining an electronic journal. When not in the classroom, students can still communicate with their classmates and instructors in an electronic medium, measure their knowledge through online tests, or simply conduct research on the internet.
