Program Description

If you are a great storyteller, have an artistic flare and enjoy video games, the Electronic Game – 3D Graphics program is for you. It is the melding of art, animation, graphics, audio, production, storytelling and portfolio development where you learn how to create inspiring computer graphics using sophisticated software tools for computer games, simulation, animation, and the gaming industry. You learn to apply drawing skills, create model sheets and storyboards that feed into the graphics software pipeline process in order to develop conceptual art into interactive media productions. Throughout this process, you will develop a demo reel to showcase your individual skills as a modeler, texture artist, character rigger and/or level artist. As a valuable team member, you direct productions, model characters and environments, and experience building levels using game technology mapping tools in preparation for work in a demanding studio environment.

Career Possibilities

Electronic Game – 3D Graphics graduates may find employment in the software production industry designing graphics for interactive media products, including: games, multimedia, film, or video. Graduates in this field may be employed by business, industry, government, and educational institutions, or may choose to operate their own business designing graphics for companies that incorporate 3D graphics into their products.

Students are required to select a specific stream of studies (Technical or Game Artist) to provide appropriate industry outcomes.

Applicants may wish to consider the Art Fundamentals program to develop their skills in preparation for the Electronic Game – 3D Graphics program. The program offers the formal drawing and art training necessary to cope with the advanced level of instruction in the Electronic Game - 3D Graphics program.
