Program Description

Everything from high-tech mountain bikes to advanced fighter jets requires parts that are built by machines. If you have an interest in how things are made and are intrigued by machines that make these things, CNC Machining is for you. This program is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required for employment as computerized numerically controlled (CNC) machine programmers and operators. CNC machining combines the ability to use your hands to make a wide variety of metal parts, with highly technical skills associated with computerized machining. You will learn to program, set up, troubleshoot and run advanced machine tools. This hands-on training, combined with the associated technical theory, will make you a valuable team member in a variety of metal working industries.

Admission Requirements Profile A
  • High School Diploma or Adult High School Diploma or GED Diploma of High School Equivalency
Career Possibilities

Graduates of the CNC Machining program fill a vital role in the thriving computerized manufacturing industry in New Brunswick. These local manufacturers supply machined parts as well as sub-assemblies to companies throughout the world, especially in the aircraft and telecommunications industries. In shops where computerized numerically controlled machines (CNC) are used, graduates of the CNC Machining program fulfill a variety of critical roles as they gain experience. You may start as a machine operator, but CNC shops will soon recognize your ability, and most graduates quickly progress to roles that utilize their technical expertise. Over the last five years, the number of jobs available has exceeded the number of graduates of the program.
