Program Description

If you enjoy whipping up creative masterpieces in the kitchen, Hospitality and Tourism Operations: Culinary Arts is for you. In our practical and intensive one-year program, you’ll learn classical cooking techniques in conjunction with new trends and ideas. You will become confident and competent in the kitchen while developing your own creative cooking style through passion, artistic expression, focus, dedication and research. As you progress throughout the year, the opportunity to work with guest chefs will bring variety to your experience. You will learn about everything from local food resources by working with local farmers, digging clams, smoking salmon and scouring the forest for wild mushrooms to production cycles, supervisory models, menu analysis and kitchen design.

Career Possibilities

After spending more than 900 hours training in the kitchen, you will be ready for work on cruise ships, catering, hospitality supply companies, hospitals, convention centres, fine dining and upscale restaurants, hotels and many other culinary-related businesses. Many of the opportunities for employment will be dependent on your willingness to relocate.
