Program Description

If you like working with your hands and with precision tools, and have an eye for line, colour and proportion, then you could be a Bricklayer and fill the need for this skilled trade in the growing construction industry in New Brunswick! As a bricklayer, you get to see progress every day. To succeed, you need to be physically fit, enjoy working hard for the satisfaction of a completed project, and you should also like working outdoors, because that is where most projects begin. In this program, you learn to lay bricks, stone and similar materials; to build residential and commercial chimneys, fireplaces, patios, walls and walkways; to lay firebricks inside industrial chimneys and smokestacks; to cut and trim bricks using hand and power tools; to line furnaces and boilers using acid-resistant bricks; to restore, clean or paint existing brick structures; to read and interpret sketches and blueprints.

  • High School Diploma or Adult High School Diploma or GED Diploma of High School Equivalency
Career Possibilities

Upon the successful completion of this training, you will have the necessary skills and knowledge to obtain employment as apprentices with residential and commercial building companies. We offer you the knowledge, skills and experience to become a Bricklayer or Mason.
