Program Description

Communication is key in any office, and being able to speak both French and English unlocks the doors of understanding. Our Office Administration: Bilingual program provides a solid foundation with French language skills training, in addition to a solid foundation in accounting, current administrative practices, communications and software applications. You will develop the broad range of skills required to perform administrative duties in a professional, bilingual office environment. Your first year introduces you to French language and office administration courses, while your second mixes language and business courses. The two-year program concludes with a four-week work practicum where you will have the opportunity to apply your new skills and knowledge in an office environment, preparing you for employment.

Career Possibilities

The demand for qualified bilingual office personnel continues to grow in New Brunswick. Graduates of this program may be employed in office environments where knowledge of office systems and procedures, combined with skills in a variety of software packages, is required. Students are well-prepared for positions in a computerized office environment, and are able to continue expanding their skills as new software and technologies evolve.

Specific Considerations

Students will receive assessment results as a result of language proficiency testing. Upon completion of the first year of this program, students may qualify for Summer Language Bursary Programs.

External Certifications

Office Administration: Bilingual graduates may have an opportunity to aquire the following external certifications upon meeting the external agencies certification requirements and paying any required fees to the external agency:

Information:An Oral Proficiency Test will be administered by Second Language Services in both the first and second year of the program. This assesses the student’s overall ability to communicate in French as a second language. Proficiency levels are rated as Basic, Intermediate, Advanced or Superior.
