Academic Upgrading
There are several ways to upgrade high school credits, or to prepare to write your GED at NBCC. Whether you want to attend classes, or prefer to work online, NBCC has the means to help you succeed. You may find you enjoy the NBCC way of learning and apply for one of our nearly 90 programs once you’re finished.
Academic Studies
Academic Studies lets you fill in gaps in your high school transcript so you can earn your diploma. You can also take advantage of these courses to upgrade French, English, science, math, or other skills. Students can take up to three courses per term.

Correspondence Service
Correspondence Service provides courses in Grades 11 and 12 in an individual learning format. These courses can be used as credits for a high school diploma, a New Brunswick adult high school diploma, a college entrance prerequisite, or for personal development.
If the course is being applied towards a high school credit, it must be approved by the high school principal in advance. If you intend to use correspondence courses for entry into universities and other post-secondary institutions, you should ensure that these courses are acceptable credits. We are not able to guarantee these courses meet the requirements of all post-secondary institutions.

College & University Preparation Classes
This program is designed to provide you with knowledge of selected academic subjects at the high school level. It focuses on developing, improving and upgrading skills in English, mathematics, social studies, science and computer literacy. The skills obtained are the equivalent of those acquired following the completion of specific courses at the Grade 11 and/or 12 level in New Brunswick high schools.

General Educational Development (GED)
General Educational Development (GED) is an international testing program for adults who have been unable to complete high school. It is a series of five tests in the core high school curriculum areas of writing, social studies, science, reading and mathematics. If you are 19 and over, and you left high school without graduating, you may want to obtain your GED Diploma. A GED Diploma is the equivalent of a High School Graduation Diploma or an Adult High School Graduation Diploma.
GED Preparation
GED preparation programs are designed to prepare students to write the GED tests required for a GED Diploma. Preparation programs are offered at most NBCC locations.

Moncton also offers GED preparation programs through night school. It consists of three nights (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) from 6-9pm for 10 weeks. The GED online preparation program is offered through the Community Adult Learning Centres (CALC) in New Brunswick.
