FREDERICTON (NBCC) – New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is celebrating its most successful year by recognizing the largest graduating class in NBCC’s history. Over 2000 graduates were honoured at five ceremonies that took place this week, with one final ceremony being held today in Saint John.
"The College is extremely proud of the Class of 2012 graduates and all of their accomplishments," said Marilyn Luscombe, President and CEO of NBCC. "NBCC strives to provide the best learning environments and educational opportunities for our students. We look forward to witnessing their talents as they go out into our province’s workforce.”
This year, a total of 2045 NBCC graduates are joining the workforce. Among this year’s graduates are the valedictorians for each Campus, which were chosen by a committee based on their contributions to student life at NBCC:
Fredericton Campus – Keshia Ancheta
Moncton Campus – Maureen Thurrott
Saint John Campus – Marlene Burdett
St. Andrews Campus – Katharine Horsman
Miramichi Campus – Alicia Isaac
Woodstock Campus – Holly Westhaver
“This year’s graduation class clearly demonstrates the diverse opportunities our College creates for quality and accessible post-secondary education in the province,” said Cheryl M.G. Robertson, Chair of NBCC Board of Governors. “As the graduates continue their life/career development, we hope they will stay in touch as NBCC alumni.”
The expansion of programs, additional seats and a 94 per cent graduate employment rate are all markers of NBCC’s recent accomplishments over the past academic year. The College continues to build on this growing success as a leader in quality post-secondary programming and training that meets the labour market needs of the province.
