Mature Students

Maybe you decided to take a few years off from school to work or raise a family. Maybe you are in a career and looking to upgrade your skills. You might be finished university, but need practical experience to make it in the work world. Whatever your story is, NBCC can help you achieve your full potential. Discover why NBCC is the right place for you!

If you are at least 21 years of age and not registered as a full-time student at a high-school, community college, or university, then you may qualify as a mature student at NBCC.  With correspondence learning options, evening courses and workshops, we have plenty of options to help you learn in the way that best suits your lifestyle.

Get started by exploring our programs and courses to see what field of study suits your needs. With over 90 programs and courses to choose from, we have a broad range to suit your interests and career goals. NBCC has part-time courses that can run once a week, to full-time programs with two-year diplomas. Once you decide what program is for you, you are ready to apply.

If you have previous post-secondary courses under your belt, or real-life work experience you think can apply to your program of study, you may be eligible for credit transfer or formal recognition through our PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) program.

Once you get your application process started, there are other things to consider. If you need a place to stay while studying with us, browse local accommodations. If you are a parent who will need a childcare provider while in class, our childcare section will help point you in the direction.

Our financial information sections will also help guide you through the process. You can also learn more and how to apply for scholarships here.

If you have more questions or need of more information, let us know! We want to make your transition to NBCC as smooth as possible.
