Course Description

Topics will include:

  • Summarize the history of early childhood and preschool education
  • Explain the influence of learning and child development theories on early childhood education
  • Discuss the development and influence of play
  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of early childhood educators
  • Explain professionalism and ethical behaviour for educators
  • Describe exemplary practices in early childhood programs
  • Interpret regulations, standards of practice and licensing
  • Identify community organizations and resources to support early childhood educator exemplary practices
  • Explain program models used within the early childhood field

Admission RequirementsPrerequisites: Grade 12 or equivalent if seeking an ECE certificate.
