Course Description
Topics will include:
- Getting started – basic materials required – palette, brushes
- How to handle and control your brushes
- Four basic painting techniques: flat wash, graded wash, wet-in-wet, and dry brush
- Value scale
- Monochrome painting
- Aerial and linear perspective
- Composition, light, and shadow
- Colour, warm and cool colours; advancing and receding colours
- How to make your paintings sing with colour
- How to use photos as reference material – simplify!
