Program DescriptionThis training service is designed to develop Certified ‘Pipe Layers Techs’ with the essential knowledge and skills in the technology and task associated with the laying sewer and water pipe in a municipal environment.
Topics include:
- Apply job site safety, regulations and legal responsibilities of Pipelayers;
- Perform hand and power tools, and equipment operation on a construction site;
- Perform pipe identification and installation using gaskets, joints and fittings;
- Install temporary water supply;
- Perform foundation stabilization, bedding, de-watering, and apply geo-technical fabrics;
- Perform delivery, handling, pipe rigging and associated appurtenances;
- Perform safe inspection, installation and maintenance on fixtures and structures;
- Perform beveling, drilling and coring;
- Perform job survey and layout;
- Perform applications of construction math, communication and basic computers;
- Perform installation and maintenance on fire hydrants;
- Perform testing, disinfecting of lines and structures.
Admission RequirementsPersons seeking admission to this training should:
• Possess a High School diploma, or GED, or
• Be 19 years of age or older
• Have previous industrial site experience, but this is not required.
