Program Description
This program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become employed as an Asphalt Paving / Laydown Technician at the job entry level of employment. Students will develop skills and knowledge in road building principles and asphalt paving procedures and safety using asphalt paving and compaction equipment.

• Asphalt Paving Safety
• Drainage, Grade and Base
• Asphalt Placement Process
• Site Grades, Stakes and Measurements
• Asphalt Environmental Background
• Asphalt Paver Operation (Operator Module)
• Asphalt Compact Roller (Operator Module)
• Asphalt Screed Operation (Operator Module)
• Milling Operation (Operator Module)

Admission Requirements

Persons seeking admission to this training should:

• Possess a High School diploma, or GED, or 
• Be 19 years of age or older
• Have previous industrial site experience, but this is not required. 


Duration

This equipment operation program is 160 hours in duration over 4 weeks. Classes start May 3, 2010.
