Garth Lawson – Rexton
“I’ve been impressed with NBCC to date,” says Garth Lawson. “Being on the board is an opportunity to support youth, and they’re our future.”
Lawson has 30 years experience in the financial services industry. He spent the first half of his career at Sun Life Canada, and by the end of his time there he was responsible for hiring and training representatives as sales manager. At the same time, he also volunteered at the Rexton Credit Union and was Chair of the Personnel Committee. Upon retirement from Sun Life, he was asked to manage the credit union, where he served as General Manager for 15 years. While with the Rexton Credit Union, the organization underwent a period of significant change, and Lawson was there. He was involved in the creation of a strategic direction after being elected to Credit Central of New Brunswick.
Lawson said participation on NBCC’s board was a natural step for him. While with the credit union, he began the first youth credit union east of Manitoba. He also sat on the Moncton division of the Junior Achievement Board.
