Metals Department

Department Overview
 
The Metals Department at NBCC Moncton continually expands and updates its facility to offer quality services and training to students and industry.

Full-Time Program Offerings

 Partners and Training

Besides regular pre-employment training, the Department offers apprenticeship training in the following areas:

  • CNC Machinist
  • Construction Boilermaker
  • Ironworker
  • Machinist
  • Sprinkler Fitter
  • Sheet Metal
  • Steel Fabrication
  • Welding

The department trains apprentices on a contract basis for the Ironworker and Boilermaker Unions, the New Brunswick Fire Sprinklers Association, and the Sheet Metal Workers of America. Customized training and training facility rentals are also available to industry.

Specialty Programs

The department develops and delivers specialty courses for the metal-based industries in New Brunswick. Some of the courses offered include:

  • Welding Technology
  • Weld Faults and Causes
  • Introduction to ISO 9000
  • Flux-Core Arc Welding
  • Codes and Specifications
  • Drawing Interpretation
  • Gas-Metal Arc Welding
  • Sprinkler Fitter/Installer
  • CNCM
  • Gas-Tungsten Arc Welding

Staff

The staff consists of 15 instructors, 12 of whom are journeymen, 7 have Welding Technician certification.
